problem exporting a 3D drawing in .X3D

Hello,

I got a problem while exporting a blender drawing in .x3d
I created a scene which is composed of:
- 4 cylinders
- 2 curves that are extruded
I generate a X3D file after having selected all the elements(6)
When I load the file with java3D, I can just see the cylinders, not the extruded curves.
I looked in the x3d file, the cylinders are well described, but the curves are not saved in the XML file.
And I am sure I selected all the elements before exporting the drawing.

Isn't it possible to export complex forms in this format with blender?
Can someone help me?

I haven't looked at the specs, but I doubt that X3D supports the curve format, and I doubt that Blender's exporter converts them for you. Try converting the curves to a mesh first (ALT-C), and then exporting.

Hi!

I tryed to select my object and convert it thanks to alt-c as you advised me.
The problem is: when I try to do that my object disappears and is erased...
What can I do? :( :(

Hmm, now we're treading into the realm of general Blender help and support. If you have general questions about Blender, the BlenderArtists.org forum might be a better place to ask (the blender.org forums are generally for development discussions):

However, I can possibly give you some tips. First, help me try to understand your exact scenario. If you have a .blend file and a place to upload it, that would be very helpful. Other information such as the Blender version you're using, the exact steps you took to create the curve object, and any other observations about what happens when your "object disappears and is erased" would help. As it is now, I have no clue what is going wrong. After pressing ALT-C, you should get a pop-up saying "Convert Curve to -> Mesh," and after selecting "Mesh," you should have a Mesh object with the same shape as the Curve object.

pb n°1 solved... let's turn to the second one!!!!

ok I got it!!!!!
I succeeded in saving in the X3D file all my curves transformed into meshes...

Unhappily, a second problem appeared:
- when I load the file with java3D, all the elements composing my drawing are repesented with a high distance between them, whereas they should be closed to each other...

Do you know what I have to do to get them at the right place??

OK, when you say a "high distance between them," are the objects themselves bigger (i.e. everything is scaled larger, including the distance between the objects), or are they just positioned wrong? If the former, it's normal and your solution would be to just scale everything smaller. If the latter, it may be a bug, and a .blend and the exported file should be submitted either here or to the bug tracker with an explanation of the problem.

Some elements were just wrong positioned .
But I solved the problem by joining all the elements of the drawing(Ctrl J) before exporting.
All the elements appear now well-positioned each other.
