Can the 32 & 64 bit python be installed on the same comp

Post by RTSchramm »

I am runnning Vista 64bit and was wondering if both the Can the 32 & 64 bit versions of python be installed on the same computer. I use both 64 bit and 32 bit programs that use python.

I also run Vista 64bit. From what I can tell about programs that run Python. They usually require a specific version, and are searched for in the default installation directory for Python. I believe Python 64 and Python 32 install to a directory with the same name (there is nothing in the directory name that says 32 or 64). Since the installation directory is the same, I would imagine it would be dangerous to install both versions for fear of overwriting files or Python program conflicts.

I have installed Python 32 at one time, uninstalled it, and installed Python 64, if you are wondering if you can have one working at a time.
