New: Crinkle Script

Post by RobertT »

Here's my second Python script called "Crinkle." It does just that to any mesh you hand it

It's adjustable and allows you to crinkle along either the X, Y, or Z axis of an object (or all the axes). With this script you can introduce randomized minor or major disturbances, bumps, and countless variations into an otherwise plain/symmetrical mesh.

This is an image of primitives deformed after several iterations with varying crinkle values:

Contents (3 files): README.txt, crinklescript.py, crinkle.blend

Read the README.txt file first to get an idea how this works and for some ideas on how to get the most out of this script.

There's also a beta variation of the script that deforms based on face normal information (this is just the python script file)

Here's a test render using the second script. This started out as a UVsphere:

Several smoothings (WKEY:smooth) were applied after several "crinkles."

Well, I hope someone out there finds this useful :)

Time to play :)

I can see some use for this in creating all kinds of interesting surfaces.
