Dynamic text that returns object name

Post by arthur_44 » Fri May 31, 2013 1:52 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering what the best way (if there is any) is to display an object name, or value using dynamic text. I'm very new to python.

Currently I have set up a scene to display some text as a scene overlay for an FPS style program with a character. The text has a little python script that calls a module on a keyboard press and alters the text to a preassigned string. However, instead of displaying a pre-assigned string (object.text = "pre-assigned string") I would like to know if there is a way to display either an array of different values, or the name of whatevever object the character is in contact with at the time of the keypress.

Has anyone got any ideas?

Thanks everyone! :)
