Displacement mapping + python

Post by Justaquestion » Wed Jul 03, 2013 5:13 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm starting to use Blender, I'm a total newbie in the 3D world, and I want to improve.
Lately, I saw a video which was amazing:

This guy found out how to use the displacement mapping in real time, by using an external program to transform his original image in gray.

I wanted to know if it was possible to apply displacement mapping in real time without using grayscale nor an external program.
I was thinking about a python script which recuperate webcam input, apply a displacement mapping for each frame and then show it as a mech dynamic texture.

As english isn't my former language, forgive me if I did mistakes, and tell me if you don't understand what I'm looking for.

Thank you
