The Capabilities of API

Post by UltimatumVox »

I just wanted to ask all the professionals out there what API is capable of doing in Blender.

Can it be used for games?
Is it to get quick access to files you have stored and create a scene with code only?
Does it involve doing math to construct meshes using 3-D graphing?

I'm curious because I'm taking a course on ActionScript 3.0 and API was mentioned.

Blender has its game engine API )which is different from the API you use for modelling etc.):

Well, you can use the filesystem. But the API is mainly to work/interact with blender objects (such as meshes, or in the game engine, with the game logic elements like controllers and actuators)

create a scene with code only?
that's possible but not while game engine is running afaik.

Depends on what you wanna do, for a geometric shape some math is probably required if you wanna adjust parameters like resolution / step size.
I'm sitting, waiting, wishing, building Blender in superstition...
