access NMesh.FaceModes from python script

hi all !
can someone tell me how to access NMesh.FaceModes from a python script.
it should work for something like that:

if mesh.facemode <this is the thing i need> == NMesh.FaceModes.BILLBOARD:
do something

if f.mode & NMesh.FaceModes['BILLBOARD']:
.....

# Turn billboard on for eg
f.mode &=~NMesh.FaceModes['BILLBOARD']

# Turn bilboard off for eg.
f.mode |= NMesh.FaceModes['BILLBOARD']
