cgkit python renderman package

Post by ElBarto »

Read a lot of people looking about connecting Blender and Pixars Renderman. This might be help by developing an exporter:

Python Computer Graphics Kit

The Python Computer Graphics Kit is a collection of Python modules that contain the basic types and functions to be able to create 3D computer graphics images. The kit mainly focuses on Pixar's RenderMan interface, but some modules can also be used for OpenGL programs or non-RenderMan compliant renderers like POV-Ray, for example.

Hi ElBarto,

cgkit can indeed be very useful for exporting RenderMan scenes using Python - particularly if you're "rolling your own" exporter for a specific project. I've used it for that specific purpose a few times. However, using it relies upon your being able to access everything you need from within the Python API.
