I'm new here, and to blender. Normally I wouldn't start with such a complex thing but I've got a pretty tight deadline on what I need to do.

I basically need to cut of part of an object. For example, I have a cube and I want remove parts of the cube that are outside this clip path.

So if the clip path were of a closed circle, a circle with be cut from the cube so I would be left with a cylindrical 3D shape with the depth of it, the depth of the original cube.

I hope people can understand what I'm trying to describe.

Thanks for viewing...

## How would I create clip path?

You are talking and thinking in 2D graphics terms. Blender uses 3D models. The equivalent to the 2d clipping operations you are referring to are Boolean Operations, also known as Constructive Solid Geometry (CSG).
