this my alpha experiment plugin for import in Blender 2.5.2 full scene , geometry uv, material , texture, lights , animation of camera, and simplex animation of geometry with father children object, plugin for blender is opensource downloadable with encrypted script for 3d studio max,
next time I think also interchange viceversa Blender scene to 3ds Max, Lightwave, Maya
I extended parameter in obj export able for light and animation

Now rewrite for blender 2.5.9

for geometry use Collada .dae format (FIXED .dae file from max to blender)


Light:
Export Standard LIght, Mentalray Light, Vray Light, Ies light (for YAFARAY engine)

Material:
Standar, Mentalray arch, VrayMtl, VrayLight, and some mixed material

textures:
Bitmap image only
diffuse, bump, alpha mask, specular

aimation:
camera: free and target, position, rotation, dolly, lens zoom
gemetry: position scale rotation, parent children
light: position, rotation, energy

BUG blender import:
but not finish for Spot light type target no support animation rotation
(Spot light type FREE is ok also animation rotation)


BUG 3ds max export:
in DAE panel export must be set manually each time ANIMATION OFF
(because for animation use format mde in Interchange script)


SETTING recommend for export:

Y-UP or Z-UP is superfluous because in interchange import be automatic convert in Z-UP in any case of export

scale dimension 1=1 (mm), because in interchange import have true
system for rescale all scene

Hi,

Thanks for your post. I have been trying to import .dae file in blender 2.60. But i was not able to import in to blender. I have exported to .dae file using the script(BLENDER_INTERCHANGE_COLLADA_FIX_2010.mse) from 3dsmax 2010 by switching ON and OFF of DAE set off animation. But error repeats. I have attached the screen shot of the error. Kindly suggest how to proceed further.

Errors found during parsing COLLADA document. Please see console for error log.

FYI, just a box and camera are animated for 30 frames.

Have you thought of putting this on a source repository site like GitHub? Would make it easier for others to collaborate with you on it, raise issues, contribute patches etc.

i downloaded 3DS MAX Scene Interchange from here

thanks for this great addon, but I am still can not make it work for me

I am using 3dsmax2010, and blender2.6.2, but the export from 3dsmax is worked, but the import process will crash my blender2.6.2 and I tried 2.6.3. no luck

can you fix this ?
