Game Engine Status Thread
I would like to request that the moderators go ahead and moderate the hell out of this thread, make it sticky and have only current status on the game engine posted here.
Or, if no one likes that idea, blast the thread. But I think it would be nice to have a quasi-official announcement thread.

A while ago an article was posted on Blender.org. In that article was wroten that the engine will return between blender 2.30 and 2.50 as plugin or integrated. But I and we can't see if people are really working on the game engine. If people work on a project like the layout of blender, and new features, you can read articles about it. But there's only told that the engine will come back, but I don't see anyone working on it.
It would be very sad to see it slowly dying while people promissed that it comes back. And still many people use blender only for the game engine. So keep it alive and I think Blender's game engine as plugin is a real good idea. Because it's easy to chance the source or add new things, because you've oly the source of the engine and not whole blender.
So maybe in the future we have Blender3d (just tha blender) and Blender unlimited (tha game engine). But for so far, I really like it so hear more about the game engine, because people are thinking is dying slowly. So please tell more about, and if people are working on it to get it back.

Curent status:
The game engine is still waiting on SOLID (the collision detection library) to be open sourced. This is set to coincide with the release of Gino's (the author of SOLID) book.
Tuhopuu2 has enji (the game engine from Blender ~2.0) and a version using ODE as the physics/collision library.
PS Link to the book:

Still waiting for the Solid.
But will the author publish it soon as opensource, or must we do something for him? Is someone planning to make a foundation for it, or something like that? Because when there's money needed, you can count me in. I really wanna see it back. Just tell more what's happening with it.
I'm always interested in such things, and so are more which use the game engine.

Excuse me if I'm wrong but is this the SOLID library that everyone's waiting for?

I hope that's not for real... check Morgan Kauffman's release date for the same book:

This site says it is available starting Oct.27, 2003 ... so I wonder if anyone knows the actual date.
