That is nice, but considering the fact that most Blender users' computers only support OpenGL 1.1, this is useless (at least for now, or until we all get those OpenGL 2.0 compatible ATI cards )
Well, more vid cards suppot OpenGL 1.1 rather than the extremely-new OpenGL 2.0. I believe Blender is based on 1.1 or 1.2. Making Blender 2.0 at this time would either a)for users to stop using Blender and/or search for an app that is supported by their video cards, b) force users to buy another video card (what if they have no money?) or c)er.......it's enough with a and b.
I'm not saying that OpenGL 2.0 should never be used for Blender. I'm just saying it's a really bad idea to do it NOW.
How easy do you think it is to make Blender a stable OGL2 app and how long time do you think it would take?... Do you really think it would be ready by tomorrow if we start now?
