bf-blender 2005-15-05 AMD64 Python 2.4 (UPDATED)
For all AMD64 users out there, here is a build of the bf-blender source as of 2005-15-05 for x86_64 systems. This is my first build, so if there is any problems, just let me know.
GameEngine enabled
Uses Python 2.4
Only runs on x86_64 versions of Linux. I built this on Ubuntu 5.04.
Download Here
I'll be glad to do another build when the official 2.37 is released, and of Tuhopuu if I can find the sources.
Enjoy![/url]

It's always good to know there's another AMD64 user.
I'll give it a try later.

I know this has been asked before, but I haven't found a straight answer yet:
Do the 64-bit builds give significant performance gains compared to 32-bit builds (e.g., rendering times, etc.)? If so, roughly how big are the gains you're seeing? I guess a test between 64- and 32-bit builds on the same 64-bit machine would be a good enough test. Sorry if I missed the answer somewhere, and thanks for any info...

I have both a AMD Athlon 2400+ (2.0), and a AMD Athlon64 3200+ (2.0), and from my own experiences, rendering is faster here on my 64bit machines, especially in raytracing. I'm going to very quickly upgrade my other machine to a 64 as well.I know this has been asked before, but I haven't found a straight answer yet:

However, i've seen people say repeatedly that there is no real speed increase....so far I haven't found that to be true.
Thanks! Can you throw out just a rough percentage figure for the improvement (or if you want to be more precise, that's fine, tooTheProducer wrote:I have both a AMD Athlon 2400+ (2.0), and a AMD Athlon64 3200+ (2.0), and from my own experiences, rendering is faster here on my 64bit machines, especially in raytracing.

Assuming all other relevant system components/conditions are comparable, this is quite an improvement! The reason I've been asking is that I just put together an Athlon 64 system for a family member, and it was hard for me to let it go when I was done!ideasman wrote:I found my AMD3500-64bit (running in 32bit mode linux) to be 30% overall faster then my 32-Bit-AMD-XP 3200.
