At some point some game developer might decide blender is the best choice for making their models and to texture it. Then it would be missing new gfx card features and maybe then they might decide to implement some highend features for themselfs and give that back to the community.
On the otherside, gpu programmers are not widely spread, not as much as c++ programmers, once that group is going to grow (no idea if that will ever happen), then surely one will be a blenderhead someday that will join the developers group to implement gpu power.
But for now there are only people asking, not giving.
