Is there something wrong? pls HELP!

Post by hellblazerjj »

I am new to blender and have infact just downloaded it and opend it so first off I would like to ask, when I start blender a black dos pannel appears and then the actual blender program runs, but in the black pannel it says
''Compiled with Python version 2.4
' import site' failed; use --v for trace back
Checking for installed Pyhon... No installed Python found.
Only built in modules are available. Some scripts may not run.
Continueing happily.

Now is this a problem, do I need to find and install Python if so what is it?

And next I was wondering if any one could point me in the direction of a good simple tutorial that explains the basics of Blender, where would be a good place to start for some one interested in creating CG cut scenes for a game perhaps, (3D animations recorded into AVI)

Thank you in advance! :D
What happens when CG graphics start to compete with photos?

Python is a scripting/programming language, which is used in Blender for a number of scripts that provide extra functionality. It's not required, but I highly recommend you download and install it.

Head over to for more information on that.

As for a good place to start, I can't recommend anything more strongly than the Blender wiki -

It's basically the user's manual, and in all honesty, it's the best introduction I've found. Start at the beginning at work your way through. It might seem a little tedious at first, but everything it covers is something you'll want to know.

For more specific help, you can head on over to

I hope this helps!
