Object "center points"

Post by ZxqamF »

I have to use Blender for an animation project for school, and I am finding the user interface utterly counterintuitive.

Why does the point around which my object rotates consistently move outside the bounds of my object? How do I move it back to a reasonable position?

I think you may want to take a look at the centering tools found at Buttons Window -> Editing -> Mesh. Read the tooltips for further instructions. Note that you can recenter object only while in the Object Mode.

Because the 'object' is just a container for data. What you mean is that you have moved your mesh data to a location away from the center of its object. In the edit buttons there is a button 'center new' which will move the object center to the center of its data.
