BlindSight being a really appropriate nickname, it seems...
...blender is changing much and fast!
asking for "where's the subsurf button gone?" is in fact equivalent to saying "i'm a blender newbie reading old tutorials", see here:
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Talk:Blend ... o/Archive1
many good tutorials you can find around could refer to a really old blender version. the most up-to date doc, beside the devs docs, is the wiki manual.
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Manual
which it is also regularly converted to pdf for easy offline reading and printing, thanks to nice volunteers
you can find it here
http://www.letworyinteractive.com/b/200 ... nder-248a/
well, jesterKing (which kindly gives free space and band to host those files btw) stated "for 2.48a" just because in those days thar release came out, but you know documentation comes always after features... in that pdf there was not much about 2.48a yet...
you can learn here, though, about new features that are not yet in the manual, and to learn how and when blender evolved and changed...
http://www.blender.org/development/release-logs/
where you can find that the subsurf button has gone in 2.40 in favour of a modifier... it's like 9 releases ago...
Ciao!

lol well its not mystery that im new to blender, and i am infact legally half blind, hence the name lol
anyways, thanks for that infor it will definetly come in handy, I wish there was some updated video tutorials for blender (i perfer them over written) but i guss ill have to mutter my way through.
Hopefully someone takes on my automated lipsync request, wish i knew python cuz I would just do it myself, but i think im gonna take the time and learn blender and start production of my movie with it, it seems to be my best option.
Thanks again!
Edit: Hmm, ive looked through that wikibook and i cant say i find it peticularily useful, most of the noob to pro stuff isnt very good, some of it isnt even there, theres no images with the tutorials (im a visual learner), this is the biggest thing holding me back from really getting into blender, every time i try to move forward i hit brick wall because theres just no new tutorials

Check out the video tutorials from BlenderUnderground. Nice, high-res, long tutorials which will give anyone a great foundation to start Blending: http://blenderunderground.com/video-tutorials/ (some minor mistakes; check the 'Tutorial Feedback' section of their forums if any Q's)BlindSight wrote:Edit: Hmm, ive looked through that wikibook and i cant say i find it peticularily useful, most of the noob to pro stuff isnt very good, some of it isnt even there, theres no images with the tutorials (im a visual learner), this is the biggest thing holding me back from really getting into blender, every time i try to move forward i hit brick wall because theres just no new tutorials
They also have some other non-video tutorials, with pictures: http://blenderunderground.com/category/tutorials/
