Tuhopuu build 16 Jun (Windows)
New vesion of Tuhopuu. Compiled with the expython (from BF-blender tree).
NOTE: this is a very experimental version since it has the expython

Great!! I was getting tired of the old tuhopuu build i was testing
I'm wondering...are Blender developers NOT doing code cleanups and optimizations? I've noticed that 2.27 starts in 5 seconds, while 2.23 starts in less than a second on my crappy old computer, and Blender's executable size has grown quite large, compared to the amount of growth from one version to the other of the Blender versions made by NaN.
Again...another bunch of useless questions.

Well, people on very fast processors wouldn't know the difference.dinklebrow wrote:

For now i'll stay with 2.23 until something is done [and by this i mean: a) i buy a new computer or b)optimizations are done to the code

Expython isn't in the cvs Tuhopuu checkout, it's in the BF-Blender tree. It's nothing more than a copy/paste to the Tuhopuu directory. Setting the workspace (VS6) to use it, then compile.Weird ... I didn't know the expython stuff was in tuhopuu ...
Chris
Hope your get a new computer soon, or you'll miss out on some of the newer features.Well, people on very fast processors wouldn't know the difference.

Typo fixed.THANKS! one typo on your page: this is labeled as 16 MAY instead of 16 Jun. oh well. Nice sever by the way, I got 400+ kb/s.
Thanks again for the build.
WHAT?! Hey!dinklebrow wrote: Hope your get a new computer soon, or you'll miss out on some of the newer features.

It's really weird that Blender takes longer to load, since no major features (like new renderer, or stuff like that) has been added. People that use Blender on processors with speeds lower than 500mhz (i know a few)won't be able to use new versions of Blender.
Well, I'm on a 466 Mhz, and I sure have noticed the slowness of the "Blender-boot" - however, there's no problem running it once it's chugging along of course. So, there's no point in not using it...
Hell, you should sit next to me whenever I start up Photoshop... [click on PS-shortcut]-[go down to the kitchen]-[put some coffee on]-[come back to Photoshop, hopefully ready to roll, cup of fresh coffee in left hand]

Well....i'm still wondering about what's making 2.27 boot so slow...Jamesk wrote:Well, I'm on a 466 Mhz, and I sure have noticed the slowness of the "Blender-boot" - however, there's no problem running it once it's chugging along of course. So, there's no point in not using it...

But, James, you should try and see the slowness of my video card.

1)Start Blender
2)Add a sphere, and go to solid mode.
3)Try to rotate the view with middle mouse button
4)Take a trip around the world
5)Go back to Blender

(Of course, my video card is not the reason for the slow booting...unless the menus are drawn in 3D

Yes, they are drawn using openGLFriday13 wrote:(Of course, my video card is not the reason for the slow booting...unless the menus are drawn in 3D)

It's also quite likely that initialising the anti-aliased text/interface translations takes a little while too. Me? I couldn't care less - Blender starts in 2 seconds instead of 1

Hmmm....well....how do i disable the text antialiasing? There has to be an option for disabling it somewhere to speed things up...broken wrote:
