Adventures in Tuhopuu OSX

Post by Money_YaY! » Wed Mar 12, 2003 1:47 am

Ha ! I finaly get to post this. Please help if ya may .

As stated in my vast amount of posts, that I have no clue how to code
compile or well any of this f33k stufƒ.
I took it upon myself to see if the wonderful world of Unix OSX power of the
word "make" would do anything at all.

" IT DID !!! "
But alas no good after thirty minutes.

So the report.

I just simply droped the blender folder in home.
Opened terminal typed cd(with one space here) "like this no quotes--->"cd "
dragged the folder to the terminal windowand bing pressed enter.
That changed the directory to the folder.
Then type --->make ( then press enter)

Wooooooooosh look at that code fLy ,/,.,.,/.,..,;,,;',<?><;',¬…≤……≤≤ø˙¨

Here is where things went poof. ..
It then wanted a file in the /usr/lib/ area called " libcrypto.a " Huh ???
It's supost to be there right ? No not at all i see. With the trusty Pathfinder

On the web it states that it comes from something called Openssl from
but it must be compiled for OSX to work and get the file out of it.
NO WaY not agaIn.
So has a haPpPy
TEN version of it compiled YaY ¡¡¡¡¡ !¡

And plop the file went straight into the wrong place rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrRRRRrrRrRr®®®®®®®®®®®®®RR‰r‰®rr®Rrrrr‰

Sooo here wee go go to terminal land again ....

First use pathfinder type "libcrypto.a" grab the folder that it is in drag it from there in to finder it should just copy it other wise hold "alt" to have it copy.

Enable SUPER ! User via NetInfo Manager : Security :Authenticate : Root User

To the terminal

Do the cd thing (as above ) but use the copied folder. Press enter.
Now copy this text so you get the spacing right.
cp libcrypto.a /usr/lib/

Should work and be inside the /usr/lib/folder in the search bar to find it.

But hey rrrrrrrrrr WhA t !! That does not work rats... after thirty more minutes

Now it tells me that the file is to old AAAAAAAAÅåååååÅAÅÅÅÅaaaaå

Seeing from the sites the version {03/09/03} states 0.9.7.a
while has 0.9.6.aX

and then the log :
make[1]: Entering directory `/Users/place/blender/intern/keymaker'
gcc -L/System/Library/Frameworks/OpenGL.framework/Libraries -o /Users/place/blender/obj//darwin-6.4-powerpc/intern/blenkey/keyloader /Users/place/blender/obj//darwin-6.4-powerpc/intern/blenkey/keyloader.o /Users/place/blender/obj//darwin-6.4-powerpc/intern/blenkey/libblenkey.a /usr/lib/libcrypto.a
ld: table of contents for archive: /usr/lib/libcrypto.a is out of date; rerun ranlib(1) (can't load from it)
make[1]: *** [/Users/place/blender/obj//darwin-6.4-powerpc/intern/blenkey/keyloader] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/Users/place/blender/intern/keymaker'
make: *** [interndir] Error 1
make: Leaving directory `/Users/place/blender'
[places-Computer:~/blender] place%

So that's it I give up . for now.

I have no clue what else it needs from this point on .

Tell me

Or better yet just do the hacking and give me the file !! ^v^

Use fink to install openssl and you should be all set.

Look at the README file in the bf-blender (version 2.26 or later)
it gives pretty detailed instructions on what you need to setup
to compile blender on osx.
