2.57 claiming to be 2.56.6 ?

I downloaded 2.57 and its claims everywhere to be 2.56a or 2.56.6

I find this confusing ...

is there something wrong with my download.

Did you get it from somewhere?

Latest svn (rev 36046) reports as 2.56.6. I expect the 2.57 release candidates are doing similar since the 2.57 release has not been tagged.
