Very first time back in Linux after years, so any number of things may be going on here. Still, it never hurts to ask...
Running Ubuntu 11.10 on a 64-bit laptop, installed using wubi. Plenty of HDD space available. Not seeing any odd behavior indicative of memory issues, etc.
Followed the instructions here and everything went smoothly until 85% of the way through the very first build, when I get the following...
