Animation tools, character animation, non linear animation

Ok. So, I have a little animation created with Blender, and I try to export it, and import it back in with the built in Video Editor. I have absolutely no idea what i'm doing here, so it would be very appreciated if someone could tell what I'm doing wrong, or inform me of what to do.
"Export" and "import" generally refer to using files in multiple programs. Do you mean you are trying to create a movie file of a Blender animation? If so, are you rendering it as an animation, setting the output to a movie format, such as H264? Doing that will create a file that can be viewed on an external player, or brought into Blender's internal video sequence editor.
