I hope my question is on topic - let me know if there is a better forum. I'm also a newbie to 3D modelling.
I need to create a simple solid model to illustrate an engineering concept. I've spent rather too much time with SketchUp, which I now realise is not up to the job principally because it is really a surface modeller rather than a solid modeller.
As an illustration of my task, I need to create a dimensioned cylinder, inside of which is a hollow spherical space. Inside the space is a torus. The torus can flip between two different rotations.
I want to create an isometric cutaway, which shows a section through the cylinder but not through the torus.
Is this something that can be achieved straightforwardly in Blender?
How simple is it to create a basic engineering model?
