JT File Format

Post by emr150 » Thu Nov 15, 2012 12:01 am

Has anyone explored adding the JT file format as an import option for blender? From what I'm reading, it could potentially supersede the need to import all other CAD file formats, since it's an open source standard and is starting to become available as an export option on many CAD packages. Wikipedia has a pretty good article on it, and the specs for the file format are available as an ISO PAS.

If no work has begun on it yet, I may be able to lend some coding time to it, though only if I can do it in C. I haven't that much experience with Python, and fear I would only serve to slow things down if I tried to code and learn at the same time.
