I'm having an issue with Bone Constraints

Post by Cobra! » Tue Sep 24, 2013 7:56 pm

I'm working on some gun animations for a game I'm making, but I've come across a problem with using constraints, mainly with a shotgun.

One of the bones on the gun has a "Child Of" constraints, which, as you might've guessed, is for when the player is actually holding it.

I have also got an IK constraint for the "cocking" part of the gun, it's actually on the hand that holds it, it's so that when I pull back on that part of the gun, the hand follows.

Here's the issue I'm having, in one animation, both of the influence values change, they have 2 key frames (0 and 1) each, the problem is, they only work if I focus on that bone.
For example, if I focus on the "Child Of" bone, or it was the last of the 2 I looked at, then only that bone influence will work, the IK bone doesn't change, it sticks to whatever value it was when I left it, it's the other way around if I had focused on the IK bone last.

Here is a video I uploaded if you're not sure what I'm talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wV3DCvlnA4

I have made a stripped down blend of the gun, I have made a very rough animation that demonstrates the problem, I've uploaded it here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3usa74t5o1bix ... blem.blend

How do I fix this? It's getting really annoying!

Hmmm. I thought I was doing something wrong, as I am having a similar problem. Came here to see if there was anything on it. Sorry I cannot offer a solution, but I will stay tuned to see if someone else does. Good luck...

Well, at least I'm not the only one with the problem...

I've posted this problem on other forums since this one, and like her, I'm not getting any replies, they just get pushed back to the 2nd page of the forums the next day or so. Is there no solution to this problem? Should I just report it as a bug on bug tracker?

Also, I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but sometimes when I try to edit one of the influence keyframes of one of the bones, it sets the other as well, and yes, I've checked that there are 2 keyframes in the animation to set it (it even goes yellow when I go over the frames), but when one is changed, the other copies it, could that have anything to do with it?

I've found out that the problem I'm having only works with linked/appended armatures, with that in mind, I had successfully recreated the problem with a new .blend, so I've gone on bug tracker and reported the bug.

If you want to see it, it's here: https://projects.blender.org/tracker/in ... 9&atid=498
