Mirror Modifier problem

Mirror Modifier problem
i am having a problem with the mirror modifier , when i move a face/vertex/edge away from the object it is ok but when i move it inside the object something weird happens . i uploaded a video on youtube if you can't understand the problem : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jlov7eA ... e=youtu.be

I believe the issue is that the mirror modifier is making the duplicate.
The mirror modifier is best suited for making a mirror image of only half a model, thus saving you the trouble of making the 2nd half.
If you start with an entire object and use the modifier, any manipulation to the left side is performed on a mirrored copy on the right. The original un-mirrored half still lies underneath.
You will want to use just half of the cube for mirroring.
