also, ioglasses makes some inexpensive headgear, but not all are stereo, or have trackers...

might not be related to Blender development, but this is neat tech:

here's a link you might find interesting on open source vr;
http://www.isl.uiuc.edu/ClusteredVR/ClusteredVR.htm
also, in the 2nd tutorial guide there was a tut on programming an old skool red/green stereoscopic plugin. It might be able to modify it to output something to work with stereoscopic goggles - maybe with the setup in the above link.

Do Blender already support any 3D glasses of any type?
These I found to be interesting at a good price:

The $35 glasses I'm assuming are lacking something. I'm hoping they support the DB9 connection on my SolidIMPACT card for my Indigo 2. Or 3 pin mini DIN for my Extreme card.

For all interested, this is a wonderfull resource for VR hardware from shutter to headset.

OMG I can't believe it, we're all gonna be jacked into the Metaverse like a bunch of Gargoyles (is that what they called it?)
Oooooooh, I can't wait! Man, you guys are way ahead of me on these goodies. I think I'm gonna splurge on cheap glasses (although I'd rather have the expensive headsets, LOL) and get into it here, LOL.
Oh geez, you made me laugh out loud when I saw that guy with his face plastered to the computer, gonna get me in trouble here at work
Wow, though, thanks for the links, say, question.... What makes a spaceball different from a mouseball thingy, LOL? How does it function differently?
Thanks again guys for such Intriguing info (intel)

Grrrrrr... that was me up there, da IngieBee. Man, I've been looking at all these goodies now, which I've been very ignorant on, and am totally fascinated. I hope I get to see some of this stuff a Siggraph. That would make the trip all that much more worth it.
Geez I'm "speaking" awfully, LOL Oh well, this would be so much fun if it really would work!

OK
head mounted displays (with two screens in front of your eyes)
=VERY BAD size, cost, and the fact they leave you unable to focus at distance after extended use.
eye max style googles(alternate eyes flickering)
=GOODcost is less, alot of new video cards come with them as an option, they do not leave you short sighted. only ad thing is they reduce the frame rate by half.
i am very close to buying a set of 3d glasses (the eyemax style) but i was thinking of it before this forum. the googles come with a certain nvidia ti4600 128Mb video card that i saw.
3d=very good idea (head mounted displays make you look like a wally) but google do not.
there i have said my part.
oh wait no i haven't (i lied )
and i hope there will soon be an option to add a stereo camera into blender that renders in stereo automaticaly (frames 0.5 off with a distance seperating each render)
i was wondering when this thread would start.
bye
