Does anybody using beos or working on the beos r5 port??

Post by deckard73 » Fri Oct 31, 2003 9:18 am

Hi there

during my last room cleaning i found an old 400 mhz notebook behind all that rare used electronic
stuff. i pressed the powerbutton and hey ... beos was running. so i looked for updates and found a vesa driver for my graphics card. I also found developement tools like gcc for beos. and deep in mind i remembered that there was a blender beos port. is there a maintainer, yet?? is there anybody else using beos??

The beos blender port was discontinued because the BeOs itself was discontinued long time ago.

I've got an old Pentium2 that's running Redhat6.1, BeOS and Win98..... The common application between them all is Blender. I don't use the machine that much any more but I still get it out and have a play every now and again.

I think it's a real shame BeOS bit the bullet, I quite liked the rather bright eye watering colour scheme.

Well, beos is not so dead as they say.
YellowTab (which bought the rights) sells the latest incarnation called Zeta which is much updated.
OpenBeos is also on the way and the two projects share stuff like the new configuration panels, etc.
