Blender is looking for a skilled 3D generalist to join the Sprite Fright open movie project, and be part of the Blender Studio team to work on independent high-end (short) films. Preferred on-location (Amsterdam). Extensive experience in the creation of high quality images and animated sequences is required.

What You’ll Do

  • Work with the Art Director to interpret color keys and lighting style of the production
  • Surfacing, texturing and UV unwrapping
  • Creating background assets and props
  • Compositing and post-render fixes
  • Actively anticipate and solve issues in the scene set-up, lighting and rendering workflows
  • Meet production deadlines and communicate clearly with production management
  • Work with other artists to ensure the correct delivery of content
  • Maintain expected render time and quality consistent with the production targets

What You’ll Need

  • 5 years+ experience with Blender
  • 1 to 5 years of production experience with 3D lighting and compositing
  • Advanced knowledge of Blender, Cycles and Eevee
  • Keep a strong balance between artistic and technical skill, with thorough understanding of the animation workflow
  • Experience with scene management, complex file linking setups and lights
  • Strong eye for color, composition and lighting design
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Creative problem solving skills
  • Strong affinity with using free/open source software and sharing Creative Commons works.
  • Knowledge of Blender’s various effects systems (fluids, cloth, particles, geometry nodes) is a plus
  • Knowledge of Python scripting is a plus
