Blender Foundation is committed to protect your privacy on blender.org. No third party will track you here. You will not find third-party advertisements on any blender.org website.

Blender software

The Bender software is free to be downloaded and used without registration. You can choose to download it from blender.org or from several third party websites. No internet access is required to use the Blender software. Schools, institutions or companies are allowed to distribute the Blender binaries internally to staff or students.

Registration, Blender ID

On blender.org we offer a number of registration options, for services such as bug reporting, using git, submitting conference talks or to purchase articles in the store. All of these blender.org subdomains now use the “Blender ID”, which is an authentication service running on blender.org/id. Blender has partnered with a three affiliate websites to also use the Blender ID, specifically: blenderartists.org, blender.community and blender.chat. For each external website, you will have to authorize sharing your registration individually. You can manage or revoke this by logging on on blender.org/id.

All of data we gather for these services are only used for proper handling of the services.

Cookies

Blender.org uses “cookies”, small text files placed on your computer, to manage registration and login, and to collect anonymous standard internet log information and visitor behaviour information.

We emphasize that blender.org only makes use of benign first party cookies.

The use of a first party cookie means that the website the visitor is actually viewing is the website that sets the cookie – not another website or advertiser. In other words, the setting of the cookie is completely controlled by us. We do not allow others to track you or to set cookies on your system when you visit blender.org. This privacy policy is valid for all websites using the blender.org domain, such as www.blender.org, store.blender.org, developer.blender.org, wiki.blender.org.

Purpose of Service

The Blender website provide services to support development and usage of the Blender free/open source 3D software project. On blender.org you will find the following services that gather user information:

  1. The “Blender ID”, as managed on blender.org/id/. Several services within the blender.org domain use it to enable a single login for users of the websites.
  2. Developer registration at developer.blender.org, for reporting bugs or to get write-access to one of the git or svn repositories.
  3. Blender Cloud Membership – via monthly subscription – to access and share data from Open Projects at blender.org, post feedback or reviews.
  4. Blender Store registration, to purchase books, DVDs or other Blender support products.

Information provided by Users, such as email address and billing information, will only be used for the purpose of the service itself and to monitor traffic and usage.

Types of Data collected

Among the types of Personal Data that this Website collects, by itself or through third parties, there are: Cookie and Usage Data, via Google Analytics. The Personal Data may be freely provided by the User, or collected automatically when using this Website. In addition to the Data Controller, in some cases, the Data may be accessible to certain types of persons in charge, involved with the operation of the site (administration, sales, marketing, legal, system administration) or external parties (limited to third party technical service providers or hosting providers) appointed, if necessary, as Data Processors by the Owner. The Data is processed and kept in the heavily secured XS4all Colocation DataCenter in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

As only exception, the Blender Studio makes use of hosting services from DigitalOcean in New York
